Review Description:
This review concentrates on complete verification of spectacles and contact lenses, interpretation of fluorescein patterns of fitted rigid contact lenses, and recognition of ocular conditions and pathology.
Examination Topics Covered:
- Verification of contact lens types: spherical, front toric, bi-toric.
- Keratometry: verification and proper recording of K readings.
- Recognition, demonstration, and commonality of different slit-lamp illuminations.
- Ocular pathology and other problems related to contact lens wear such as vascularity, edema, ulcer, keratitis, conjunctivitis, GPC, keratoconus, and dimple veiling.
- Identification of contact lens fitting: fluorescein patterns, staining, adverse reactions to contact lenses.
- Use of distometer and pupilometer.
- How to correctly verify bifocal, trifocal and progressive spectacle lenses.
- How to verify prism in spectacles
- Other aspects related to complete verification of spectacles.
- How to tell a bi- toric rigid contact lens from a back toric contact lens.
