Stewart Optical Education ServicesEducation OptionsStewart Optical Education Services offers continuing education credits for all ophthalmic personnel. Continuing Education Credits Available:
Courses:Both hands-on and didactic courses with a variety of media are available. Fundamental courses are designed with the assumption that enrollees do not yet have a basic knowledge of these subjects. In addition to the reviews offered the fundamental courses, especially the hands-on, can be valuable for those planning to take their exams. However, these fundamental courses are not a substitute for the reviews and vise versa. Courses available include Contact Lenses I (theory), Contact Lenses II (hands-on), Functional Testing Procedures in Refraction, Ocular Anatomy and Physiology, Fundamentals of Optics, In-Office Refractometry (Refinement), and Methods of Retinoscopy. For information on individual courses click the link in the left column. Exam Reviews:Both written and practical exam preparation reviews are available. These reviews are intended for people who are either within six months of a scheduled exam, already licensed, or certified personnel who would like a refresher course. Since Bernie Stewart has written exams for licensure and certification, enrollees will have a good idea of what will be covered on the exams. It is assumed those who take the reviews already have basic knowledge of the topics covered in the fundamental courses. Examination Reviews available include the Written Contact Lens Exam Review, Written Optical Exam Review, and the Practical Exam Review. For information on individual reviews click the link in the left column. Courses and Reviews Taught In Your Office:Any and all of the courses and reviews can be taught in your clinic any time, any days of the week, as an in-house training at your convenience (subject to the instructor's schedule). Furthermore, when taught in clinical setting these courses and reviews can be customized to individual needs and expanded. Bernie Stewart has taught in many clinics across the country, as well as in three medical schools. For more information about having a course or review taught in your office click the link in the left column. Credits by Correspondence:If you cannot attend a course in person, then earning credits by correspondence is a viable option. Upon consultation with the potential enrollee these courses are customized to the individual's needs. Credits by correspondence are available in all states for all ophthalmic personnel, and in particular for licensed or certified opticians. (Please check with your licensing or certifying agency to see if you are approved to receive continuing education by correspondence). Courses by correspondence are not a substitute for examination reviews or any hands-on courses.
